Ty Heulog – Specialist Nursing Home Opening Summer 2026

Ty Heulog nursing home opens Summer 2026, bringing specialist nursing care, new jobs, and meaningful opportunities to the community of Cardiff, while supporting adults with complex needs to live safer, fuller lives.

We’re proud to share that Ty Heulog will open Summer 2026, bringing specialist nursing care, new career opportunities, and meaningful investment to the Llanishen community in Cardiff.

Purpose-built to support adults with complex clinical needs, Ty Heulog represents our continued commitment to strengthening specialist care provision across Wales. More than just a new building, Ty Heulog will be a place where people can feel safe, supported, and empowered to build stability and confidence in their daily lives.

Located on Station Road in Llanishen, Ty Heulog combines expert clinical care with calm, welcoming spaces that feel truly homely.

Creating a specialist nursing home designed around people

Every aspect of Ty Heulog has been carefully considered to support people with complex clinical and neurological needs, including acquired brain injuries, dementia, Huntington’s disease, and mental health needs.

The home will include 32 spacious bedrooms across two floors, alongside a range of communal areas designed to support both comfort and independence. These include shared lounges, quiet areas for relaxation, dining spaces, and specialist bathing facilities to support dignity and wellbeing.

Outside, landscaped gardens, including a sensory garden and courtyard, will offer opportunities for fresh air, movement, and calm reflection. Access to outdoor space plays an important role in wellbeing, and Ty Heulog will ensure people can safely enjoy their surroundings as part of everyday life.

Every detail reflects our belief that the environment plays a vital role in helping people feel settled, secure, and able to thrive.

Specialist nursing care delivered by expert clinical teams

Support at Ty Heulog will be led by a highly skilled nursing team, who will work alongside a multidisciplinary clinical team including Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, and Speech and Language Therapists.

This collaborative, nursing-led approach ensures each person receives personalised care tailored to their individual needs, goals, and preferences. Clinical expertise will sit alongside compassionate, relationship-led support, helping people to build trust, confidence, and meaningful routines.

Our approach is led by Strive, our unique model of support. At Ty Heulog, Strive will guide how we support people to develop stability, improve wellbeing, and achieve positive outcomes. This includes creating capable environments, supporting communication, and building consistent, proactive support around each person.

By combining clinical expertise with a deep understanding of each person’s needs, Ty Heulog will provide specialist care that focuses not just on safety, but on quality of life.

Strengthening specialist care provision in Cardiff and Wales

The opening of Ty Heulog in Summer 2026 reflects our continued investment in Wales and our commitment to ensuring people can access specialist nursing care closer to their families and communities.

Too often, people with complex needs are placed far from home due to a lack of specialist provision locally. Ty Heulog will help address this challenge, providing expert nursing care within the community and enabling people to remain connected to their support networks.

The location in Llanishen offers excellent access to local amenities, transport links, and healthcare services, ensuring people remain connected to their community while receiving the specialist care they need.

Dan Svensson, Managing Director for Wales at ivolve said, “Ty Heulog represents an important investment in Cardiff and in the future of specialist nursing care in Wales.”

He continued, “We are proud to be creating a home where people with complex needs can receive expert, compassionate support in an environment that feels safe and genuinely welcoming.”

On top of this, we’re excited to be working alongside partners, professionals, and families to create a home that strengthens local provision and supports positive, long-term outcomes.

Creating meaningful careers and opportunities in Cardiff

Ty Heulog will also bring significant employment opportunities to the local area, creating a wide range of new roles across nursing, care, therapy, hospitality, and activities.

Dan agreed, sharing, “The home will create meaningful career opportunities for local people and strengthen specialist provision within the community. We’re excited to see the positive impact this home will have for people, families, colleagues, and the wider Cardiff area.”

We are currently recruiting for a variety of positions, including Registered NursesCare Assistants, Therapy Assistants, Chefs, and Activities Coordinators. These roles offer meaningful careers where colleagues can make a genuine difference in people’s lives.

As an organisation recognised as one of the UK’s Best Places to Work for two consecutive years, we are committed to supporting colleagues through training, development, and career progression. Ty Heulog will provide opportunities for people at all stages of their career, from those starting their journey in care to experienced clinical professionals.

Each colleague will play an essential role in creating a safe, supportive, and positive environment where people can flourish.

Now accepting referrals ahead of Summer 2026 opening
