Dedication and progress at ivolve
Meet Lorna Finegan, one of our kind, passionate and resilient Area Operations Managers. Lorna’s journey is not just a testament to her own character and resilience, but also an inspiration for others who are looking for a career in care.
Lorna’s story begins with her commitment to supporting others, a passion that started by a personal tragedy.
When she was just 15, Lorna sadly lost her mother to Motor Neurones Disease and through this, she knew she wanted a career where she could help others. “I always wanted to support people who needed it,” Lorna reflects. Initially, Lorna targeted medical school, but was dissuaded when she completed some work experience and so shifted her approach towards a career in care. She knew that this was somewhere she could make a difference every day.
Joining ivolve’s friendly team in 2009 as a Support Worker, Lorna embarked on a journey of growth and development that has spanned over a decade. From Support Worker to Team Leader, and now Area Operations Manager, Lorna’s progression highlights her dedication for her work and for the people we support. Reflecting on her journey, Lorna is proud of what she has achieved, and of the drive and determination that’s helped to get her there.
As a person who loves learning, Lorna took the decision to gain a place on our apprenticeship scheme, which has helped her to shape her career journey. Through the apprenticeship, Lorna developed her skills, gained valuable insights, and built up her capabilities as a leader. “Learning on the job has enabled me to apply theory to real-world scenarios. It’s been really rewarding for me to learn at ivolve, with the support I have to help me achieve.”
Looking ahead, Lorna has a keen interest in operations and strategy, she sees herself pursuing more senior roles in the future. The skills and experience she’s built will no doubt help her as she grows.
When asked about her biggest influences, Lorna told us that her biggest inspirations are her Nan, “she is the most amazing person ever.” And her mum too – she was very strong and was a great role model. Lorna also said she’s very inspired by all the women managers in my team, including Natalie Macpherson who has been a massive inspiration since she joined.
We think Lorna’s story can inspire us all. We’re very proud to have her as part of our team, reminding us of the importance of hard work, kindness and determination. As she continues to make a difference every day, Lorna sums up everything that ivolve Care & Support is about!
