A Wildly Fun Morning of Pet Therapy with Zoo Lab!

We recently had a wonderful morning at ivolve, where our friendly colleagues and the people we support came together for an exciting pet therapy session with Zoo Lab. Our visitors from Zoo Lab brought a whole range of fascinating animals to meet us. From a friendly python to a curious giant snail, the experience was packed with surprises, smiles, and a few squeals!

As our session began, the people we support were introduced to a few very unique guests: a tarantula (safely in its box, thankfully!), a giant snail, a frog, a centipede, and even a gecko. The Zoo Lab team guided us through each animal, sharing fun facts and answering all our questions. Their knowledge really helped everyone feel comfortable and eager to give the animals a try.

Among our group, the animals definitely had their fans! Sarah, for instance, found herself fascinated with the snake and had the best time stroking it and watching it wrap itself around our hands. She was completely at ease, smiling the whole time! One of our colleagues, David, clearly had a real interest in all the animals and enjoyed every moment, taking the chance to ask loads of questions and learn more about each creature.

Meanwhile, James, another person we support, was especially captivated by the centipede, saying he enjoyed the feel of its many tiny legs crawling gently across his hands. It’s these unique interactions that made the morning so special. Everyone found something to enjoy and took something away from the experience.

What made the day even better was that two of our services could join in together, which filled the room with laughter and lively conversation. Everyone had the chance to connect with each other while experiencing something new. We’re pleased to report the tarantula stayed safely in its box the whole time!

Of course, there were some hiding acts too! Chloe and Ben stayed at a safe distance when the tarantula came out, and there were some good-natured jokes about their efforts to avoid the “creepy crawlies.” It was all in good fun and part of what made the morning so light-hearted and memorable.

The ivolve Strive Model: Bringing Every Day to Life

This pet therapy day is a great example of our ivolve Strive model of support in action. Strive is our approach to support that’s all about creating positive, proactive opportunities for the people we support. It’s more than just day-to-day care; it’s about finding ways to make each day meaningful, inspiring, and filled with activities that everyone can look forward to.

By planning events like this, we help people connect with their interests, explore new experiences, and build confidence in a supportive, friendly environment. Whether it’s introducing an animal friend or planning everyday activities, we want every person we support to feel that they’re living a full, active, and happy life.

Thanks, Zoo Lab—and Amelia!

A big thank you to the team for arranging such a fantastic day and to Zoo Lab for bringing their wonderful animal friends along to meet us. It’s mornings like this that remind us how much joy and laughter a shared experience can bring. And who knows, maybe next time, Chloe and Ben will come out of hiding for a closer look at the tarantula!
